The most important tip to successful events is make use of the time you have left. With the spring semester in full swing, it’s tempting to leave events until the last minute. We’ve all been there, the night before conference desperately printing off the last details to glue to our trifold boards or finishing the powerpoint we meant to do a month ago. Don’t make the tuesday night before conference stressful. Finish your events early, get a good night’s sleep and show up to conference ready to succeed in your events
Don’t forget the small details
Does your plan of work log need an advisor signature? Do you need a recommendation letter for your portfolio? Make sure you have everything you need to avoid getting disqualified.
Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!
Most events include an interview or presentation during the semi-finalist round. But what makes one presentation stand out against another. Practice. I promise the more prepared you are, the more confident you’ll come off in your presentation or interview. Make sure you(and your partner if its a team event) know exactly what you’re going to say and have already prepped answers for potential questions.
Don’t forget that EVERY event requires a LEAP response and has a LEAP interview. For details on what is required visit National TSA’s website. (https://tsaweb.org/competitions-programs/leadership-leap )
State conference is less than a month away! With perfecting events and finalizing presentations can come performance anxiety. Remember to stay calm, enjoy conference, and show the judges how much work you put into your events.
I wish you all the best of luck in your competitive events and as always if you have any questions please feel free to contact me over email or on social media @TennesseeTSA on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
