For many, the holidays are a time of cheer, but for students, they can be filled with stress. Approaching deadlines for college, scholarships, and other opportunities can be a hassle, especially at such a busy time of year. Fortunately, TSA members can use those applications as a chance to share their remarkable achievements through this organization. Here are some ways you can use your experience in TSA to enhance your college application and show off your hard work!

  • Emphasize your leadership experience. As a member of TSA, you have boundless opportunities to build your leadership skills and put them into action. Whether you serve as a chapter officer, lead groups in team events, or help organize fundraisers, your time in TSA is preparing you to be a leader in whichever field you pursue. Be sure to share about your leadership experience within your school, chapter, and community.
  • Share your achievements through competition. Competing at conference is a highlight of every student’s TSA experience. Whether you’ve competed on a regional, state, or national level, competing through this organization is an achievement to be proud of. If you have participated in competitions, placed in your events, or have been recognized for your achievements, be sure to include those in your applications!
  • Highlight your interests with your events. From flight to fashion design, TSA has an incredible range of events that allow any student to find his or her niche. Have your favorite events ignited your interest in a certain career or area of study? Explain how preparing for that event helped you to discover your passion for that topic. To take it a step further, describe any problems you have solved or challenges you have overcome while preparing for your event.
  • Include community service and fundraising efforts. All across the state, TSA chapters are leading their schools and communities in fundraising and in service.  Students have countless opportunities to make a difference, such raising money for the ACS, participating in community service opportunities, or leading initiatives in schools. How has your chapter served your community? Describe the part you’ve played in these efforts and the impact it has had on those around you.

No matter what your TSA story is, being a member of this organization is something to be proud of. Now, let your achievements shine by showing the world what you are capable of. Good luck with your college applications!
