As regional conferences conclude and state conference remains two months away, it's easy to think that these next months are a good time sit back and relax. With competitive events and LEAP resumes in hand, it looks like everything is in line for State Conference. But be careful of getting complacent, as there are numerous opportunities and important deadlines just around the corner.
First and foremost, the deadline for membership affiliation is February 15, 2019. If your chapter wants to compete at state conference, make sure all chapter members are affiliated by this date.
Tennessee TSA offers three $500 scholarships to qualified student applicants: the Dr. Bob Hanson Scholarship, the Dr. Tom D’Apolito Scholarship, and the Dustin Heavilon Scholarship. These scholarships are all looking to help fund the education of TSA members interested in pursuing higher education in a STEM field. If you or a member of your chapter would like to apply for any of these three scholarships, the application is due March 1, 2019.
American Cancer Society Fundraising
Don’t forget, ACS fundraising is now a state-wide competition. Earn recognition for your chapter by raising the most money across the state of Tennessee. If you need ideas on how to fundraise, view our Jumpstart Your Way to a Successful Chapter or Coins for a Cause blog articles. You can also contact your state officers if you have any questions.
Finally, just because your events are completed does not mean they’re state conference ready. Constant work to tweak and edit your events following regional conferences, as well as applying the feedback given to you by your regional judges, is a sure way to perfect your events before submitting them at state.
Remember, these next two months are crucial to your success at state conference. Be sure to pay close attention to all deadlines, perfect your events, and take advantage of the opportunities granted to you over the next few months.
